Period 5

Content:Unit 12A birthday party Grammar

Aims and demands

1.Learn the new words: clothes/favorite.

  1. Make sure the students can talk about their birthdays freely using
  2. the Simple present Tense.

Important points:

The questions forms of the simple present tense.

Difficult points:

Talk about their birthday freely.

Teaching methods:free-talking.

Teaching steps:

Step1.Revision.

Ask some students to describe the pictures and talk about Millie’s birthday party.

Step2.Presentation.

Ask: “Is Millie pleased at the birthday party?”

“Why is she so pleased?”

“Does she like the day?

Help the students to answer the questions and present “clothes” “favorite” then practice.

Step3.Practice.

Give the students some questions:

1.When is your birthday?

2.What do you do on that day?

3.What do you eat on that day?

4.What clothes do you wear?

5.Who comes to your birthday party?

6.Is your birthday your favorite day of the year?

Students answer the questions then talk about their birthdays.

Students make dialogues to talk about their birthdays.

Step4 Dialogue.

Draw a calendar of “8 April” on the Bb. Say: “ It is Lily’s birthday, can you tell me the date in English? Help them to practice “the eighth of April”.

Communicate with the students about Lily’s birthday.

Get the students to read and fill the blanks, check the answers.

Students read then practice the dialogues in pairs.

Step5 Production.

Get the students to write a passage about Lily’s birthday then report to the class.

Step6 Homework.

1.Collect the information about your friends then write a report for tomorrow.

2.Prepare a dialogue about birthday in pairs.

 

Period 6

Contents:Unit 12 Pronunciation

Aims and demands:

1. Learn the consonants:

2. Train the students’ ability of spelling and reading the words.

Key points:Read the consonants.

Difficult points:The rules of the pronunciation.

Teaching aids:A tape recorder and some cards.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Revision

Revise the vowels and consonants learned before by using some cards.

Step 2 Presentation

  1. Write some words on the blackboard: teacher, Chinese, chicken, chat, each.Get the students to read the words. Teacher asks the students what the “ch” in the words pronounces. Then show the phonetic symbol card to the students.
  2. Teach the other phonetic symbols in the same way.

Step 3 Practice

Practice reading the phonetic symbols.

Step 4 Writing

SB Page 66Get the students to read the words on the left together. Then write the words in he proper place.

Check the answers with the students.

Step 5 Listening

Play the tape for the students to listen and repeat. Then get some students to read the phonetic symbols.

Step 6 Playing a game

Hand out some cards with the letters or the phonetic symbols on them. Get the students to find their friends according to their cards.

Homework:

  1. Practice the phonetic symbols.
  2. Find some other words including the sounds.

 

Period 7

Teaching contents : Task in Unit 12

Aims and demands :

Train the students’ ability of speaking andwriting . At the same time after  earning this part , students can consolidate the structure of the special  question of the present tense and learn to make a card of the birthday’s posters

Key points :The special questions of the present tense 

Difficult points:How to lead the students to learn the contents taught in  class

Teaching methods :

1The way of asking and answering

2The way of using the birthday cards

3The way of practicing in pairs and discussing

Teaching aids :Birthday cards and a tape

Teaching procedure :

Step 1 Revision :

Ask the studentssome questions according to Millie’s birthday party .

Such as :

1 When is Millie’s birthday ?

2 How does Millie spend her birthday ?

3 Who usually comes to her birthday party ?

4 What does she usually get for her birthday ? etc.

Step 2 Presentation

Show the birthday card prepared before class and ask the students What  it is ?andask them if they usually get the birthday cards for their  birthday.

Then ask some students to tell the class how he/she spends his/her birthday .

Step 3 Listening

Ask the students to listen to the tape and answer the questions

1 When does Millie have her birthday party ?

2 Where does she have the party ?

Step 4 Practice

Ask the students to act out the dialogues in pairs .

Step 5 Areport

Ask the students to know each other’s birthday and make a report  according to Part A. Then ask several students to give their reports to  the class.

Step7 Homework

Ask the students to make the birthday cards according to his/her own things or the other ‘sjust like the Millie’s on Page 67.
